Here since 1955, some might call that old. Not I.
I was born and live in Los Angeles, California, am retired from two businesses I owned from 1980 to 2016.
I enjoy high quality audio equipment, cameras, fine cars, and watches.
For the past ten years I have been fascinated with mechanical watches. Quartz watch movements keep time more accurately, but for style and presence I feel mechanical hand wound and automatic movements are the most enchanting.
The technology behind mechanical watches has not really changed much in hundreds of years, and yet they are still viable everyday tools. Unlike modern electronic devices, they do not need batteries, or charging. If one is made well and cared for it can last for generations. And one more thing I like is that mechanical watches have a beating heart and depend on you to keep it so.
I do not claim to be an expert on watches, but I am very willing to learn.
